SPX Showcases Latest Cooling Tower Innovations at POWER-GEN International
2017-07-24
Overland Park, KS – SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc., a full-line, full-service industry leader in the design and manufacture of evaporative and air-cooled heat exchangers, will highlight its innovative pre-assembled modular cooling tower offering at POWER-GEN International, Dec 13-15, 2016, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Featured in Booth #3859 are the new Marley NC Everest™ Cooling Tower, the Marley Modular F400 Cooling Tower and the ClearSky® Plume Abatement System. Also featured are the Ecolaire® ADCC™ Advanced Direct Contact Condenser from SPX Heat Transfer LLC and Waukesha® Power Transformers from SPX Transformer Solutions, Inc.
The Marley NC Everest Cooling Tower takes cooling to a higher level, with 50% greater cooling capacity than any other pre-assembled cooling tower available, compared to other leading manufacturers. The NC Everest Cooling Tower typically delivers 80 percent faster than field-erected towers and installs in about 20 percent of the time. It is specifically designed and constructed to withstand the rigors of power and industrial applications.
The Marley Modular F400 Cooling Tower, the industry standard for counterflow design, offers a new modular construction process to speed field erection. Components of the cooling tower are pre-assembled at the SPX manufacturing facility and shipped just-in-time to the job site. Benefits include reduced laydown area, shorter construction schedule and less impact from weather. Less manpower is required on site and assembly processes are safer. Uniform factory- assembled modules increase product quality; less material storage alleviates site congestion.
The Marley ClearSky Plume Abatement System is a fully integrated system that uses a series of PVC heat exchanger modules in the tower plenum to condense the moisture in ambient air before it exits the tower, thereby reducing the visible plume. With ClearSky, it is possible to achieve water savings of up to 30%. Instead of water vapor being released into the air, it is reclaimed and used in the cooling tower system. In applications like power plants, where water consumption for cooling is high, this can provide major cost savings and strong return on investment.
Also showcased in the SPX booth are the Ecolaire ADCC Advanced Direct Contact Condenser from SPX Heat Transfer and Waukesha Power Transformers from SPX Transformer Solutions. The Ecolaire ADCC Advanced Direct Contact Condenser is licensed technology designed for geothermal power that condenses steam directly from geothermal wells or steam flashed from hot brine. SPX Transformer Solutions specializes in medium and large power transformers for a variety of applications. Its Waukesha® brand transformers, components and service solutions are recognized for their quality and reliability.
